First Boot

Confirm the web interface is reachable, sign in, and lock the system down before you use it in production.

Open the Web Interface

  1. From another computer, open https://<ip-address> or https://<hostname>. The server redirects HTTP (port 80) to HTTPS (port 443). Dismiss the browser warning for the self-signed certificate.

  2. Sign in with the default account admin / admin12345. Change this password immediately. See Sign In and Profile.

Internet Exposure

VidRedi is not designed for public Internet access. Do not open ports to the Internet.

The one exception is an SRT listener, where a remote host must connect to IP:PORT. In that case expose only that UDP port, and prefer a VPN.

VPN Tunnels

VidRedi has been tested with Tailscale. For offsite access or streaming, use Tailscale or another WireGuard-based VPN instead of exposing the server. Tailscale is supported and can be installed directly on a VidRedi server.

If the interface loads but a DeckLink card is missing, see Troubleshooting.

What's Next

  1. Register a license. Channel recording and playback require a valid license.
  2. Create the first channel.
  3. Set the device name, date format, media URL, and disk thresholds on Configuration → System. See Configuration.
  4. Plan backups of /var/lib/vidredi. See Storage and Environment.
