Create the First Channel
Channels are the core of VidRedi. Each one is a video input, a stream out, a download, or a playback path. Create one before you record or play.
Use the Channel Wizard
The wizard is the recommended start. Each starter is a working pipeline for a common job.
Pick a starter instead of building a pipeline from an empty channel. Templates already have codecs, containers, and buffer settings that work together and can then be tweaked.
-
Open Configuration → Channels.
-
Choose Create a New Channel.
-
Pick a starter:
If you need to… Start with Record DeckLink to disk Live Capture Recorder Record an incoming SRT or RIST stream SRT Live Recorder or RIST Live Recorder Send DeckLink out as SRT, RIST, or RTMP SRT Stream from Decklink, RIST Stream from Decklink, or RTMP Stream from Decklink Archive an HLS stream HLS Download Play a library file to DeckLink Video Playback -
Name the channel.
-
Set the source or destination that is unique to your site:
Template Fields to change Live Capture Recorder, Video Playback DeckLink Port Number and Mode SRT Live Recorder Source URI (caller: host:9000)SRT Stream from Decklink Sink URI (listener: :9000?mode=listener, or a destination host)RIST Live Recorder / RIST Stream from Decklink IP Address and Port Number HLS Download HLS Master Playlist URL RTMP Stream from Decklink RTMP URL / Location -
Review audio channel count if your source is not a full 16-channel plant. The RTMP template uses 2 channels by default.
-
Save.
The full catalog is in Channels.
Saving a channel that is in use stops it and reloads the configuration.
Audio
VidRedi supports up to 16 audio channels in and out. Some network sources and consumer devices do not fill that layout. If audio is missing or noisy, lower the channel count to match the source.
Match the Video Format
The channel’s mode should match the source: resolution, frame rate, and scanning.
The system can adapt rate and resolution when playing a file out. Live capture still needs a matching DeckLink mode.
Confirm the Source Is Live
Before you enable a channel:
- The video source should already be sending.
- Network sources need a reachable address.
- DeckLink sources should show a detected input.
Rearrange and Disable
Drag channels on Configuration → Channels to change Dashboard order. Disable a channel to keep the configuration without running it or showing it on the Dashboard.
Next Steps
The machine is ready to operate. Continue with Getting Started to record, play, and use the library.
To change pipeline plugins, audio routing, or templates later, see Channels.
