Configuration
Configuration is the admin area of VidRedi. What you see depends on your permissions. If a section is missing, your role does not include it.
Open it from Configuration in the header. The default landing page is the first section you are allowed to view (often Channels).
System
Configuration → System holds settings that apply to the whole device.
General
- Device Name — Shown in the browser title so you can tell machines apart.
- Date and Time Format — Used in the library, notifications, logs, and naming templates that use the system date token.
- Log Level — How much the application writes to logs. Use Info for normal operation. Raise it only while diagnosing a problem.
- Update Channel — Which release stream in-app updates follow:
stable,rc,beta, oralpha. Keep production machines on stable. - Disable Telemetry — Stops usage reporting. Restart the VidRedi service after changing this.
- Media URL — The address browsers use to fetch recordings and previews. Use a full URL with the server’s hostname or IP. If this is wrong, the Dashboard preview and library playback in the browser fail even when files exist on disk.
Recordings
- Recording Name Template — Default name (and optional folder path) for new recordings. A channel can override this. See Package Naming Templates.
- Time Slip Buffer — Seconds (0–60) that must be captured before time-slip playback can start. Raise this if playback near the live edge stalls. Streaming plugins may add extra delay for network jitter.
Disk thresholds
Thresholds are in gigabytes of free space, not a percentage.
- Warning Threshold — Sends a notification when free space drops below this value.
- Recording Threshold — Stops recordings when free space drops below this value so the system stays usable.
Set the warning higher than the recording threshold so you have time to free space.
Network
Configuration → Network configures IPv4 on supported hardware.
For each interface you can:
- Use DHCP, or
- Set a static IP address, prefix, gateway, and two DNS servers.
If the page says network configuration is not supported, set addressing with the operating system tools instead.
A wrong static address can lock you out of the web interface. Have console or another path ready before you save.
Updates
Configuration → Updates checks for, downloads, and installs VidRedi software updates. A valid license is required.
Use this page for minor (software-only) upgrades. Some versions need a full upgrade that also updates operating-system packages and services. When that is required, the product tells you.
Do not install an update immediately before a live event. Leave time to test.
The full procedure, installer flags, and backup steps are in Updates and Upgrades.
Logs
Configuration → Logs shows recent application log lines in the browser.
- The list refreshes on its own.
- Auto-scroll follows new lines.
- Refresh reloads from the start of the current window.
- Export downloads a text file of recent lines.
This viewer is the first place to look during a failure. On-disk locations are listed in Troubleshooting.
