Notifications
The bell in the header shows system and channel events. Open it to read messages, run any attached actions, and clear items you no longer need.
What Notifications Cover
Typical notices include:
- Recording start and stop
- Runaway recording warnings
- Low or critical disk space
- Pipeline or channel failures
- License grace period and expiry
- Hardware problems such as a missing DeckLink card
Types
Each notification has one of these types:
| Type | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Info | Status you may want to know about |
| Warning | Something needs attention soon |
| Error | Something failed and needs action |
Some notices also appear briefly as a toast in the lower-right corner. Those still land in the notification list when they are stored.
Open the List
- Select the bell in the header.
- A red mark on the bell means there are unread items.
- The header of the list shows how many are unread and the total count.
Each item shows a title, a short message, and a relative time. Hover the time to see the full timestamp in the system date format.
Scroll down to load older items.
Mark as Read and Delete
- Select the check control on an unread item to mark that one as read.
- Read marks every item as read.
- Delete removes items that are already read. Unread items stay.
There is no email, sound, or filter setting. What you see in the list is the full notification history that has not been deleted.
Actions on a Notification
Some warnings include a button. The action runs on the server; you do not change the channel yourself.
The most common action is on runaway recording protection. When a recording is near its maximum duration, the notice includes Continue recording. That turns off protection for the current recording only so it can run past the helper limit. Disk-space stop rules still apply.
You need permission to run notification actions. Viewers can read the list but cannot press action buttons.
Configure the helper on the channel. See Channels.
Common Situations
Runaway recording
A warning lists the channel and the time the recording will stop. Either stop the recording yourself or choose Continue recording if this session should run longer.
Disk space
- A warning means free space is below the warning threshold on Configuration → System.
- If space reaches the recording threshold, recordings stop. Free space before you start them again.
See Library and Configuration.
Pipeline or DeckLink failure
Open the channel, press D for the debug overlay, and check Troubleshooting. Hardware and driver issues are in Management troubleshooting.
License
Daily warnings appear during the 21-day grace period. After that, starting channels is blocked until you renew and register. See License.
Logs
Notifications are a short summary. The same events are usually written to the application log. Use Configuration → Logs or the paths in Management troubleshooting.
